[BIBLE]. [Lyon: Jacques Sacon, 1511]. - Fort in-8, 180 x 123: (27 ff. out of 28, mq. the title), CCCCC ff., (51 ff. out of 52 mq. the last) [sig. aa7 bb8 bbb4 c8 a-z8 A-Z8 AA-QQ8 RR4 A-D8 E4 F8 G7]. Brown calf on wooden ais, cold floral castors in the frame and vertical in the center on the plates, spine ribbed with cold fillets , chiselled edges (period binding). Delaveau-Hillard, Bibles printed from the 15th to the 18th century, n° 775, Rare gothic bible from Lyon, printed in 1511 by Jacques Sacon (1472?-1530 ?) on 2 columns of 58 lines. According to Delaveau-Hillard, this edition follows the Lyon edition given by Jacques I Mareschal in 1510, "which takes up in the margins some of the references to canon law given in the Basel edition, 1509, and which contains the "Compendiolum totius sacrae scripturae per rythmos " by François Le Goust. "A copy in contemporary binding, fully set and rubbed in red and black. The first lettrin of the first leaf was illuminated at the time, the other lettrins throughout the work were awkwardly painted later. In the lower margin of folio I there is also a banner, painted and gilded at the time, bearing the name Claude Lizarde. Opposite this same sheet are his painted weapons, representing 3 lizards. Delaveau-Hillard cites 4 copies of this edition, all incomplete. This one is no exception to the rule, because it lacks the title bearing the mark of Sacon, and the last sheet. Binding very damaged with missing parts, rosette made with the compass later on the first cover. Missing the clasps. Wetness, edges of the first few leaves effranchaged, without damage to the text. Some worm work . Provenance: Claude Lizard
