Christian JACCARD (b. 1939)Combustion, 1982White ... - Lot 118 - Ader
Christian JACCARD (b. 1939)Combustion, 1982White wick on loose unbleached canvas. Signed and dated on the back. 253 x 205 cm- Comment : We thank Mr Christian Jaccard for the information he gave us . Combustion is at the heart of Christian Jaccard's work. In an interview with Jean-Pierre Criqui, the artist explains the departure for him of "a line of fire [that] runs in filigree along a large part of [his work]:" Put very early in college and then in the cubs, I learned the manual of the gabier and the campfires that fascinated and hypnotized me by the eruption of flames, their unpredictable and dazzling dances, their energies freed and then consumed and reduced to ashes. And this memory buried in a distant past later emerges unexpectedly through the experiences of ecobuilding (burning of dry grass) and the encounter with combustible materials put to the test. "He adds a little further on: "Tie/Burn are two "tools" forming a paradigm that postulates a way of seeing things and translating a certain dynamic of the world. Between knotted and igneous paths, my intuitions are guided by the entropy of contradictory yet concomitant forces. "(Interview by Jean-Pierre Criqui, Curator, Musée national d'art moderne, In Code couleur n°36, January-April 2020, p. 36-37) Our work echoes in particular the exhibition of the artist's donation organized by the Centre Georges Pompidou: Christian Jaccard, Energies dissipées, 4 March - 25 May 2020.
