Musketeer's mane helmet of the 1st company, called "Grey Musketeers", model 1814. Bomb and visor in silver plated copper. Crest with flanks decorated with fiery lightning bolts, enriched with lightning bolts, an exploding grenade stamped with the motto of the body "QUO RUIT ET LETHUX" ("Where it falls [allusion to the grenade shown], death too"), surmounted by three fleurs-de-lis, and enhanced at the base by a frieze of heart stripes in gilded brass. Round plaque with the Cross of the Musketeers, blackened inside, surrounded by branches of oak and laurel leaves, bosses with exploding pomegranate, chinstones with scales (some missing) lined with velvet and gilded brass penholder. Marmoset covered with horsehair. Mane and puff, with gilded brass sleeve decorated with water leaves, in black horsehair. Chinstrap attachment cord made of gilded thread trimmings (reinforced). Black leather inner cap. With white and black feathers, black woollen olive and gilded brass base. B.E.
