Student of Girodet, painter and chemist, Pannetier exhibited at the 1833 and 1834 Salons; he was the first to sell, in 1838, chromium oxide as a pigment for artists. His works are represented at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Bordeaux and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Strasbourg.
