18K (750) gold and silver chain decorated... - Lot 6 - Ader
18K (750) gold and silver chain decorated with two main motifs, each forming a polychrome enamelled rosette centred on an old-cut diamond and edged with rose-cut diamonds, the lower motif recalling a watch, the composition highlighted with rose-cut diamonds. French work from the last quarter of the 19th century. Height: about 9.7 cm . Gross weight: 72.6 g (missing ) The enamels worn on the castelaine that we present are to be compared with those made by Charles Riffault, a famous enameller who worked for Boucheron in the years 1870-1880. His style was characterized by the use of radiating motifs from a centre, in red, green and blue colours. The Belle Epoque of French jewellery 1850-1910, London, 1990, p. 134.
