MOZART Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791). Die Zauberflöte in Clavierauzug von Herrn W.A. MOZART (Wien, in dem musikalischen Magazin in der untern Breunerstrasse [Kozeluch]. [1791-1793]); file no. 1158; one oblong volume in-4 (ca. 24.3 x 35 cm) of 38 separately paginated issues, bound in old brown calf, spine decorated (rebound, restored binding ; dampened). Rare first edition by Kozeluch of The Magic Flute . It consists of 38 numbers, all engraved, with general title page and table of numbers (Verzeichniss), some numbers with title page; the first numbers without quotation; contemporary manuscript additions and annotations, including alternative texts for nos. 18, 22 and 25; signatures of the first owners on the general title ("Ag. Starkert" and "Frl Fiesenig "). Die Zauberflöte was performed for the first time in Vienna on September 30, 1791, with enormous success. Between that date and Mozart's death on December 5, the great Viennese publishers Artaria and Kozeluch competed to publish the most popular arias. While Artaria came first, the Kozeluch edition is the most complete, comprising 38 issues compared to Artaria's 34. Of these 38 issues, 26 are first editions, either contemporary to Artaria's editions or missing from the Artaria collection. " Bey Männern" (no. 7) and "In diesen Heil'gen" (no. 22
