STRAUSS Richard (1864-1949). L.A.S. "Richard Strauss", Weimar 25 October 1889, to Hans von BÜLOW; 2 1/2 pages in-8 (some slight freckles); in German. Beautiful letter from the beginning of his career in Weimar addressed to Hans von Bülow. In that year Strauss had arrived in Weimar as second Kapellmeister. Hans von BRONSART informed him that he had asked Bülow to honour one of the subscription concerts with his participation as soloist. As conductor of the first four subscription concerts, Strauss asked Bülow to do him the great honour of playing in one of them at his convenience. Knowing that Bülow is to play on November 13 for the benefit of the Musikschüle, Strauss offers him, if he really agrees to give him the great pleasure of playing in one of his concerts, the date of November 11. He thanks Bülow for the kind welcome he has given to his friend Friedrich Rösch by allowing him to attend one of his rehearsals.
