Darius MILHAUD (1892-1974). L.A.S., Menton February 20 [1950], to conductor Pierre Monteux; 2 pages in-8. Before the premiere of Barba Garibo at the Lemon Festival in Menton. "I am very happy that you are offering me the opportunity to conduct next season. I had a great joy last year. All Paris is waiting for you. And so are we. I'm in Menton for the premiere of a new work Barba Garibo orchestra, folk choirs, dances, all very Provençal and very cheerful. Bolivar is playing at the end of April. Skoloski comes for the 4th Concerto (written thanks to Doris) here on April 13th. We record it afterwards. We all work a lot. Too much work. Health half and half. But I was able to drive quite a bit and make records ... [Barba Garibo is an entertainment on the theme of Menton folklore, composed on a text by Armand Lunel, commissioned by Radio-France and premiered on February 19, 1950 by the Radio Orchestra and the choir "La Chanson Mentonnaise" under the direction of Eugène Bigot].
