Jean-Michel TERRIER (20th century) - Lot 48
Jean-Michel TERRIER (20th century) In memoryTempered on a gold background affixed to paper. Plywood on panel. Signed lower right and dated 1987. 43 x 37 cm This memorial evocation is indicated by the letters (T.NZ.B.H) in Hebrew which refer to the verse biblique : May their souls be attached to the bundle of the living . In the shelter of an unfurling tallit is a heap of stones standing up to the sky. These stones and the red flames emanating from them seem to cry out to heaven where God is represented as a radiant semicircle. These red flames could also evoke the flames of the burning bush. Jean Michel Terrier, who received the Neumann Prize from the city of Paris in 1981, invites us to a dreamlike journey inspired by the Bible and the Kabbalah.
