LES SCULPTURES SPATIALES DE ROGER DESSERPRIT Roger... - Lot 0 - Ader
LES SCULPTURES SPATIALES DE ROGER DESSERPRIT Roger Desserprit's problematic of space is approached with a certain number of sculptures, which are no longer interpreted according to an understanding of a connection with a concrete environment - of the type of human habitat or the "synthesis of the arts" of the Space group - but in that of a cosmic dimension. This concern, shared with other artists, however, is very rare in its homogeneity. For Roger Desserprit, the evocation of space is a means of reintroducing the imaginary. A challenge that corresponds to a need to apprehend the universe in a "slightly mechanical and baroque" way, aiming to find, conceive and realize symbolic devices whose functional aspect is hardly suggested and which "will subsequently find an application through certain phenomena of physical and metaphysical sciences". "Artists are the initiators of the future" declared Roger Desserprit. Preferring "to tell stories, lies of the present, perhaps truths of tomorrow", Roger Desserprit believes in the harmony of the cosmos. Metaphysical propositions are therefore the essential element for understanding Roger Desserprit's abstract work. (...) Freed from its previous formalism, the line becomes more flexible, shadow and light do their work of relating to space, thus abolishing the notions of measure and technicality. This approach, which perhaps the accidents of everyday life seem to mask, can be recognized through the structural components of his works, the foundations of which between 1950 and 1954 were only means to achieve a formal rigour hidden under a lyricism of line and colour. The notions of synthesis, complementarity and harmony are evident in the coin-sized reliefs as well as in the paintings of 1970 or 1980. The inscription in a more specifically aerial domain, be it the space of birds or that of cosmic dimension, marks the path of the work. To the metaphysica
