Fragment of a bridal tunic, kiwa al-kabira, Tunisia, 19th-20th centuryTwo strips of red and black wool woven and sewn together and embroidered with metallic threads trimmed with pearls and sequins forming different rectangular registers trimmed with stylized floral motifs or fish. Decorated with multicolored silk threads embroidered and tied in floats forming two lines, one bordering one side, the other arranged in the upper quarter. A pair of shoes, Ottoman Empire, 19th century, in leather covered with green velvet embroidered with metallic threads punctuated with sequins. Length: 24.7 cm; wear. 110 x 51 cmSome holes. This kind of piece with fine embroidery work and shimmering colors came to decorate the front of Tunisian bridal tunics as a breastplate.
