Jambiyya dagger and belt, Yemen, 19th/20th centuryCurved blade with steel center rib, horn handle with studded decoration and two silvered medallions imitating Venetian Republic coins riveted on. Wooden scabbard sheathed in leather and lined on one side with metal plates with beaded, braided and chased geometric decoration. The scabbard is mounted on a nylon belt lined with purple velvet, embroidered with metallic and polychrome cotton threads and decorated with small talismanic boxes and a silver bottle. Length of the dagger: 30.5 cm; size of the belt: 6.7 x 105 cm. Rust marks on the blade, damaged belt, some traces of oxidation on the sheath . Provenance: According to family tradition, the set was given by the brother of the Emir of Yemen to the present owner . A Yemeni horn-hilted dagger (jambiyya), 19th / 20th century.
