Imperial Porcelain Factory. 1837-1847 Dessert plate of the service of the Kremlin. Marking : blue mark under cover with the monogram of Nicolas I. Diameter: 22 cmThe service of the Kremlin was ordered by Nicolas I for the big Palace of the Kremlin of Moscow . The design was entrusted to Fedor Grigorievitch Solntsev (1801-1890), a painter, draughtsman, art historian and above all a specialist in ancient Russian art. He designed the decoration of these dessert plates based on the model of the plate of Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich (father of Peter I) from 1667, which is kept in the Armoury. This gold and enamel plate was transposed into porcelain, changing the name and title of Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich into that of Emperor Nicholas I. The original service is from 1837-1838. Replacements and additions took place under the successors of Nicholas I.
