Charles LECOCQ. Autograph musical manuscript... - Lot 54 - Ader
Charles LECOCQ. Autograph musical manuscript for Le Petit Duc; 4 pages oblong in-4 of a 24-line bifeuillet (slightly cropped without loss of music, fold mark). Attached is an L.A.S. by Robert Planquette, June 8, 1886. Fragment of the orchestral score for Le Petit Duc, a comic opera in 3 acts, libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, premiered at the Théâtre de la Renaissance on January 25, 1878. It is probably a variant of the beginning of scene 2 of act III, where Captain Montlandry arrives at the camp and joins the comrades who are celebrating: "Thank you! so kindly but first answer a few questions. What are we doing in this campaign? Are we laughing a little? Are we having fun? And first of all, do we drink a lot of Champagne wine? Is it good? Place then I'm in the party and I want to drink it with you. Yes! I want to drink it with you "...
