He sends a portrait of his visiting correspondent for six weeks, the length of the College vacation which is just beginning: "I send you, on a visit only, and have given it permission to spend six weeks with you, that being the length of the College vacation which is just beginning. He leaves in a few days for Nahant, where he will receive his pen pal if he comes to Boston during the summer. They will be very glad to see him; and as there is a steamer, four times a day, and train to Lynn, without number, you will not find the journey long nor tedious".
