[Adolphe DELEGORGUE (1814-1850) explorer]. L.A.S. and L.S., 1850-1851, to his family; 1 page and a half in-8, and 1 p. in-fol. on the letterhead of the Ministère de la Marine et des Colonies. 2 documents on the death of the explorer [after exploring southern Africa, Delegorgue left in 1850 for a trip to West Africa, but he died during the crossing on May 30]. Calais October 25, 1850, J. Renard, of Renard and Duniagou-Pecquet, shipowners: "I have not received a letter from my counter in Grand Bassam since I had the pleasure of seeing you [...] What you have read in the Journal de Calais was taken from the particular letter of M. What you have read in the Journal de Calais was taken from Mr. Duniagou's private letter to his wife [...] I do not believe that the Juste can arrive before December or January... Paris, June 14, 1851, the director of personnel of the ministry informs Mr. Bottin, Delegorgue's brother-in-law, that the latter died on the coast of Guinea on May 30, 1850, on board the ship Le Juste, and that a death certificate has been requested from the governor of Senegal.
