Gustave EIFFEL (1832-1923) engineer, pioneer... - Lot 205 - Ader
Gustave EIFFEL (1832-1923) engineer, pioneer of metallic architecture. L.S, Paris, January 10, 1893, to the members of the Board of Directors of the Compagnie des Établissements Eiffel; 2 pages in-8. Eiffel withdrew from business after the Panama scandal, confirming that he was "absolutely determined to abstain from any further participation in an industrial matter; I see too closely the dangers of this [...]....] I will therefore resign as President and Director of our Company immediately after the outcome of the present trial [...] In order that no one may be mistaken, and to show in the clearest possible way that I intend to remain from now on an absolute stranger to the management of the Establishments which bear my name, I expressly wish my name to disappear from the designation of the Company, at the same time as I myself will part with it". He will "give up 2,000 of the 3,571 shares" allocated to him, and asks the directors to call a general meeting of shareholders. [The same year, the Compagnie des Établissements Eiffel became the Société de Constructions de Levallois-Perret].
