L.A.S. "Marguerite", [April-May 1547], to Cardinal Alessandro Farnese; 1 page in-4, address on the back "A mon cousin et bon filz monsgr le cardinal Farnesse", seal with arms under paper (light wetness). Very beautiful and rare letter after the death of his brother Francis I. "My cousin and good son Jay receives your consolatory letter, to which you will not be further replied to except that you have lost a Roy who carried great love and reverence for our Holy Father [Paul III, born Alexander Farnese] and who loved you very much. Our bishop has given you back a nng [Henry II] who I am the only one who will follow the virtues of the father and will be the heir of the lobeisance he bore to the Holy Apostolic See and for the desire that I have had all my life to see this amytya continue. I praise our Lord God who has made the experience of his house and of yours, which I consider to be perpetual. It testifies to the gratitude of the Cardinal of Armagnac for the graces received from the Holy Father "which I consider both mine and that of the Cardinal of Armagnac for the graces received from the Holy Father"... Former collection of President Robert Schuman (with transcription of his hand, II, 24-25 June 1965, n° 178).
