NODIER (Charles) - STEINLEN. Histoire du Chien de Brisquet preceded by a letter to Jeanne by Anatole France. Plum half-maroquin with wide bands, wide central strip of parchment in the centre of the boards, bordered by a red box border between two black fillets, smooth spine, wood paper lining and endpapers, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (Desmules) Beautiful edition published on the occasion of the 1900 Universal Exhibition, illustrated with 25 compositions by Steinlen, including 2 in colour on the cover and 4 also in colour on the full page, engraved on wood by Froment père, Deloche, Frédéric and Ernest Florian. Edition at 177 copies, this one being one of 125 on large vellum from the papeteries du Marais, and more precisely one of 100 on this paper without continuation. It is enriched with the subscription specimen. A very nice copy bound by René Desmules. Spine faded.
