The Soliloquies of the Poor Man. Revised, corrected and expanded edition with unpublished poems.
Paris: Eug. Rey, 1903. - In-8, 180 x 135 : 256 pp. 1 f., illustrated cover. Half olive calf, smooth spine decorated, spotted head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (period binding).
First illustrated edition of this famous collection first published in 1897, the best known of the poet Jehan Rictus (1867-1933). Revised, it includes 2 new poems compared to the original edition while 3 others have been removed.
The illustration, entirely done by Théophile Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923), includes a cover and 111 lithographed drawings, 9 of which are full page.
Copy on publisher's paper, with the sole name of Eugène Rey on the title, including this very nice letter from the author to Marc Rolland, manager of the Théâtre de l'Œuvre:

The author is referring to his one-act play Dimanche et lundi férié ou le Numéro gagnant (Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday or the Winning Number), performed on 18, 29 and 20 December 1905 at the Théâtre de l'Œuvre. The actress Albanie played the female lead role of Noémie Vidal.

Copy of the deluxe edition limited to 150 numbered copies on Japan paper (n° 4), enriched with a proof before the letter with remarks of the drypoint. This one is also enriched with a L.A.S. from Jehan Rictus addressed on October 9, 1906 to a poet friend, 1 1/2 page in-12, in which he asks his correspondent what happened to the Revue de Champagne and the study he was to devote to his book Fil de fer.
