TAILHADE (Laurent). Au pays du mufle. New revised and considerably enlarged edition. Preface by Armand Silvestre. Paris : Bibliothèque artistique et littéraire, 1894. - Large in-8, 257 x 181 : 129 pp, (1 f.), printed cover. Bradel half red morocco with corners, gilt filets, smooth spine decorated with gilt doves and gilt and mosaic flowers, cover and spine preserved (Ch. Meunier). Second edition, partly original, printed at 1120 copies, illustrated with 12 compositions by HERMANN-PAUL (1864-1940). One of the 100 copies on chine, this one unnumbered, each leaf of which has been re-engraved and brought to a large in-8 format. UNIQUE AND CERTAINLY THE MOST PRECIOUS EXAMPLE OF THIS BOOK, ENRICHED WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF PIECES, including: - The original drawings of all the illustrations, - the smoke and drawing of an unpublished illustration, - the smokes of 10 of the 12 compositions in the book, of the two remaining illustrations, one does not include one and the other includes a print on edition paper, - 11 figures in black relating to the author, mounted on tabs, - the autograph manuscript of the 2 poems not included in this edition, - the autograph manuscript of the first 22 lines of the Ballad on the cabalistic advantages of M. the autograph manuscript of the first 22 lines of the Ballade sur les avantages cabalistiques by M. Joseph Péladan, - the autograph manuscript of the table, - several sheets of corrected proofs, - the letter from the publisher Deschamps to Pierre Dauze which accompanied the shipment of these pieces, dated September 25, 1899, one page in-8 with the letterhead of La Plume: "You will find under this envelope all that I promised you - with in addition proofs and other smokes that relate to Tailhade and that I am offering you . There was no correspondence about the book for the reason that Tailhade was wounded (and lying in the hospital of Charité), that he could not write, when we decided on this edition. Everything was settled in 8 days, including the printing!!!» The envelope is attached. A very nice copy bound by Charles Meunier, perfectly preserved. Jacques Crépineau has enriched it with the number 391 of the review Les Hommes d'Aujourd'hui devoted to Laurent Tailhade. Provenance: Pierre Dauze (not included in the catalogue of his 1914 sale where there are 3 other copies of this edition).
