TITAŸNA. - Lot 633
TITAŸNA. Jazz. Intellectual news. Paris : Louis Querelle, December 1928-1931. - 17 issues in-4. Stapled, in a later folder and case. Complete collection of the 17 issues of this magazine created in 1928 in Paris by Élisabeth Sauvy, under the pseudonym of Titaÿna, and Louis Querelle. The set consists of 15 issues published between December 1928 and March 1930, plus two "special" issues published in 1931 entitled Exotism and Nudism. Contrary to what the title might suggest, this magazine was not only about music but also about literature, shows in general, art, photography, architecture, salons, exhibitions, etc. Many writers collaborated in the magazine, such as Carlo Rim (editor-in-chief), Pierre Mac Orlan, Marcel Pagnol, Jean Fayard, Joseph Delteil, Gus Bofa, Max Jacob, Willy, André Salmon, Henry de Montherlant, Joseph Conrad, Ivan Goll, etc. The illustration is abundant, including compositions in reproduction by artists as diverse as Carlo Rim, Louis Touchagues, Jean Cocteau, Bécan, Serge, Alfred Jarry, Vertès, etc., and especially numerous photographs by Germaine Krull, Man Ray, Bérénice Abbott, Nadar, Manuel frères, Roger Parry, Emmanuel Sougez, Maurice Tabard, etc. Copies very well preserved despite some soiling of the covers.
