[CORRESPONDENCE]. Lettres de Madame de Courcelles [followed by] Lettres de Madame de Bu[ssy] L'A[met] [followed by] Lettres de Mademoiselle de L'Esfargue [followed by] Maximes galantes [followed by] Lettres de Madame d[e] M. [followed by] Lettres de Monsieur de la Rivière à Madame la Marquise de Coligny. In French, manuscript on paper. France, circa 1690. 12 pages, [1] bl. f. + 190 pp. + 96 pp. + 16 pp. + 60 pp. preceded and followed by a bl. f. of endpaper, cursive handwriting in dark brown ink, text framed by a double fillet in red ink (justification: 135 x 78 mm), some corrections in the text Bound in full tan calf, spine with five ribbed bands, brown morocco title page with gilt lettering, spotted edges. Size: 181 x 126 mm. Collection of letters and gallant maxims, some of which have remained unpublished. It depicts the loves, often adulterous, of five great ladies of the 17th century. One finds thus the exchanges of Marie-Sidonia de Lénoncourt, marquise of Courcelles, with François Brûlart du Boulay, of Madame de Bussy Lameth and the count of Albret, of a certain Mademoiselle de Lesfargue with her lover, of an unknown lady and her lover and finally those of Henri-François de la Rivière and Louise-Françoise de Rabutin, marquise of Coligny. Another copy with a very similar composition is known (Dijon, BM, Fonds de Juigné, MS 1422, Recueil épistolaire).
