LAVAUD (Jean de). The annals of Limoges. In French, manuscript on paperS .l.n.d., early XVIIth (?) Title + 70 ff, followed by 3 blank ff., complete . Bound in full soft vellum, smooth spine (important moisture stains not preventing reading, binding tired, nevertheless binding of the period). Dimensions : 230 x 190 mImportant manuscript called "Clément-Simon" in the stemma codicum of A . Leroux (1889 and 1890), probably the oldest since the loss of the "manuscript of the Presidial of Limoges". The Annals of Limoges constitute a chronicle of the history of this city and the oldest versions date back to the 14th century. Translated in the 16th century, Jean de Lavaud, prosecutor at the Presidial of Limoges, took over the enterprise: the present manuscript gives the events up to 1370. Abbé Jacques Rémi Antoine Texier (1813-1859), historian and archaeologist, priest of the diocese of Limoges and then superior of the Petit Séminaire de Dorat from 1847-1856 (mention in pencil: "1879. Sale Texier"). - Gustave Clément-Simon (1833-1909), magistrate and public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Aix-en-Provence, owner of the castle of Bach, in Naves, near Tulle in Corrèze, where he constituted a vast library and a collection of archives on the Limousin, the major part of which is in the AD of Corrèze Then to his son Frédéric Clément-Simon (1873-1937) (mention in pencil: "Sale Clément-Simon 12-13 Oct. 1937": it is the sale of the library of the castle of Bach). - – 3.
