COLUCCI (Gio) - MIRBEAU (Octave). Le Jardin des supplices. Paperback, filled cover, publisher's illustrated folder and slipcase. Rare edition illustrated by the painter and illustrator Gio COLUCCI (1892-1974) with 60 compositions, including 2 in pale green on the cover and 58 in black stenciled on the title, at the head of the chapter, in the lettering and in the caps, as well as 14 plates, including one in the frontispiece, engraved with etching and enhanced in colour with a brush. The work is presented in a folder illustrated with two colour compositions by the painter and illustrator Yan Bernard DYL (1887-1944), repeated on the slipcase. Edition of only 103 copies initialed by the publisher at the justification and including a suite of the two compositions by Dyl and the illustrations of the book in black; this one is one of 102 on Montgolfier pure vellum. The hors-texts are on strong wove paper. A UNIQUE COPY, ENRICHED WITH 21 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS AND SKETCHES BY THE ARTIST, USED TO ILLUSTRATE THE BOOK. These original drawings have been kept separately, in sheets under a mat, in a filled cover, a folder and a case. The majority of the drawings are signed by Colucci and are done on different supports with grease pencil or gouache. On the cover, the title of the work and the name of the author have been written in red and black ink. Some defects to the cover and the slipcase. The frontispiece is loose.
