JOUAS (Charles) - CAIN (Georges). The Seine from Point-du-jour to Bercy. S.l.Printed at the expense of two amateurs, 1927. - In-4, 281 x 207 : frontispiece, (2 ff.), 108 pp. and (3 ff.), printed cover. Grey-green morocco, composition in shades of grey and green painted on the first board, apparently depicting a sunset or sunrise, spine with two thick, pointed nerves with the words "La Seine" painted in grey lettering in between, grey morocco framing inside, with green morocco band on one third of the lower side, grey moiré silk lining and endpapers, double endpapers, silver edges, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (Sir Abdy & Creuzevault). Very beautiful and rare edition printed at only 130 copies on Rives vellum, illustrated with 44 original etchings by Charles JOUAS (1866-1942), including a frontispiece, a vignette on the cover and 44 compositions in the text. One of the first 30 copies including 3 states of the etchings. A very fine copy in the original binding by Creuzevault, decorated by Abdy, signed as follows on the lining frame: "Décoration grande fantaisie sir Abdy & Creuzevault". Some wear to the case. Provenance: François Ragazzoni, with bookplate.
