SCHMIED (François-Louis) - MARDRUS (Joseph-Charles). Charming history of the adolescent sugar of love. Paris : F. L. Schmied, 1927. - In-4, 304 x 234 : (4 ff.), 145 pp., (5 ff.), illustrated cover. Dark green jansenist morocco, smooth spine, thin dark green morocco border inside, gilt fillet, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, case (Alix). First edition of this oriental tale, printed at 170 copies on Arches wove paper, entirely established by François-Louis SCHMIED (1873-1941) who illustrated it with 649 wood-engraved compositions, including hundreds of "bouts de lignes", 132 bands, a coloured frontispiece and 13 full-page coloured compositions. Each copy is signed by the artist on the justification and on the frontispiece. Another edition illustrated by Schmied appeared at the same time as this one, with different illustrations. Only 25 copies were printed, it is also described as a "first edition" in the justification and bears the same "achevé d'imprimer" dated September 30, 1927. Very nice copy bound by Alix . Spine very slightly faded.
