Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1606-1669 )The... - Lot 24 - Ader
Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1606-1669 )The Triumph of Mordecai. About 1641. Etching and drypoint. 212 x 170. Bartsch 40; New Hollstein 185. A very fine proof of an early 18th-century print (before the later aquatint), on laid paper with watermark (possibly letters "Auvergne" and bunch), the drypoint barbs still clearly visible in the kneeling man in the lower left corner, trimmed to the board cut on three sides and slightly in the subject at the head (3-5 mm), mounted by the top edge on cardboard. Traces of glue in the corners on the reverse. Framer's inscriptions in pencil at the right edge on the oblique verso.
