An 18K (750 ‰) gold tripartite pendant, probably... - Lot 2 - Ader
An 18K (750 ‰) gold tripartite pendant, probably a former ear pendant, openwork, centered with a knotted design, set with rose-cut diamonds. Portuguese work of the late 18th century, bears the hallmark of Porto 1785-1794. Height : 10 cm approximately. Gross weight : 16,7 g This pendant and the following one come from workshops in Porto where the production of jewels was characterized at that time by a very refined work, a design composed of complex patterns, and a movement in the curves. This "dynamic" is different from the previous periods where the designs of the jewels are more rigid. The interplay of ribbons, foliage, and stylized flowers come to life to create an opulent and refined result. Five centuries of jewellery, National Museum of ancient art, Lisbon 1995, p. 66-67
