HENRI RAPIN (1879-1937 )Slight variation of the model presented at the Salon des Artistes Français, Paris, 1904Rare sculptural armchair with high back in ribbed, molded and carved oak. The front uprights are each topped by a capital carved with foliage and flowers. The uprights of the backrest are each finished, in the upper part, with a ribbed and carved stock. The backrest band with two circles carved with geometrical motifs. The backrest and the seat form an L shape and are placed upside down on a base with highly stylized claws on the front. The armrests are overhanging. Brown leather upholstery probably old but not original. Condition of use. Height: 134 cm - Length: 63 cm - Depth: 79 cmMuseum and related works: An identical chair, with sculpted owls on the front, presented at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris in 1904, is kept at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris under the inventory number 2011.143.3.2.
