- Emmanuel CHABRIER. 2 L.A.S. "Emmanuel"... - Lot 18 - Ader
- Emmanuel CHABRIER. 2 L.A.S. "Emmanuel" and "Emml Ch", [La Membrolle June-July 1886], to Paul Burani and Émile de Najac; 2 and a half pages in-8 (partly in blue pencil) and 1 page in-8. [86-51 and 86-76] To the librettists of Le Roi malgré lui. [June 1], to Paul Burani. "Here is a monster for the melody, dreamy and sad, which Minka sings, under the silly chorus of the patrol. The more melancholy her song, the funnier the patrol will seem (and vice versa). And Chabrier makes14 hilarious verses for Minka's aria, with foot counts and comments in bubbles called by blue pencil lines: "Blanche, come into my tent (6) / That tempts; (2) / Love smiles on us; (5) / Let's take the mice (5) / From my aunt; (3) / Open your corset, (5) / Pull your shoelace (5) / Madness, I'm practicing!... (5) / I was never in such a hurry! (8) "... He adds : " It must be very tender ; a kind of love song of the country "... Sunday [18 July?]. "I give myself a little on all the pieces. Three are finished. It works. But, while it's working, I wouldn't be angry to see, in a short time, the 6 pieces of the 3rd; for, as you can see, these pieces, before becoming definitive, are always and frequently reworked and I wouldn't want to lose the slightest amount of time"... Attached is a L.A.S, 3 June 1887, to Mme Léon Bossé (1 p. in-8 in blue pencil), following a list (2 p.) by Antoine Lascoux of the orchestral parts of the 3rd act of Le Roi malgré lui for a concert at the Trocadero [87-7].
