Roger ALBIN (1920-2001). Autograph musical... - Lot 161 - Ader
Roger ALBIN (1920-2001). Autograph musical manuscript signed, Sonata Cantata Toccata, 3 movements for six percussionists, 1972; 39-9-18 pages 35 x 27 cm in 4 bifeuillets. Work composed for the Percussions de Strasbourg. The title page bears: " Sonata (skin percussion) Cantata (metal percussion) Toccata (wood percussion) ", and the dedication: " For the percussion group of Strasbourg with my deepest esteem and friendship ". The work was in fact written for the tenth anniversary of the Percussions de Strasbourg, premiered on 20 June 1972 at the Palais des Fêtes in Strasbourg, and performed again in July in Paris at the Festival du Marais. In 1973, Roger Albin produced a version with orchestra under the title Sinfonia concertata. The work does not seem to have been published. The composer's concern was to highlight, in addition to the virtuosity of each instrumentalist, the nature of the three great groups of modern percussion, namely the skins, metals and woods. Each group is assigned to a movement according to its nature and its relationship to the style of that movement. The work lasts twenty minutes. The manuscript is written in black pencil on 32-line paper for the Sonata, marked at the beginning Moderato (199 bars, duration 7'50), and dated at the end "Schiltigheim le 27 IV 72"; in blue pencil on 24-line paper for the Cantata (102 bars, duration 9'20), with, on the title page, instructions for the Cadenza: "Each instrumentalist plays his or her own part, freely, the 4 elements in order or disorder", etc.; in black pencil on 32-line paper for the Cantata (102 bars, duration 9'20), with instructions for the Cadenza: "Each instrumentalist plays his or her own part freely, the 4 elements in order or disorder"; in black pencil on 32-line paper for the Cantata (102 bars, duration 9'20), with instructions for in black pencil on 24-line paper for the Toccata marked Vivo (280 bars, duration 4'50), dated at the end "Schiltigheim le 6 juillet 1972".
