Average size of the prints : 9,5 x 12,5 cm Son of a schoolteacher, Édouard Empain represents one of the greatest industrial success of the end of the 19th century. General and aide-de-camp to the Belgian king Leopold II, he was knighted in 1907. He created a commercial empire in the early 1880s, which his two sons Louis and Jean inherited. In 1933, the latter embarked on a long voyage aboard the yacht S. Y. Heliopolis, whose name echoes the city built by his father. This imposing album illustrates this very rich journey through Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Bali, Java, until the Pacific, Polynesia, the New Hebrides, Oceania and Tahiti.
