ANOUILH (Jean) - PEYNET (Raymond). The Thieves' Ball. S.l.Le Bélier, [1952]. - In-8, 280 x 190 : 116 pp, (4 ff. 2 last blank), illustrated cover. In leaves, filled cover, publisher's folder and slipcase. Beautiful edition of this comedy-ballet by Jean Anouilh, first performed at the Théâtre des Arts on September 19, 1938, at an edition of 300 copies, illustrated with 36 black compositions by Raymond PEYNET, including one on the cover, 10 full-page and 25 in the text, wood-engraved by Théo Schmied . One of the 36 first copies on vellum pur fil du Marais, this one being more specifically one of the 25 accompanied by the original drawing of one of the engravings and a suite in black of all the illustrations. Copy enriched with 3 ORIGINAL COSTUMES MAQUETTES BY RAYMOND PEYNET, the publication prospectus and 2 programmes of the Théâtre de l'Atelier for the performance of the play in 1941 and 1950 . Folders and case browned.
