Dreyse needle-fire revolver, five shots, caliber 0,35 (10 mm approx.), double action. Blued, rifled, fluted barrel (slight traces of external grinding at the muzzle). Closed frame marked "F. Dreyse Sommerda cal. 0,35. 12. Gran. PU.LV" and engraved trigger guard. Walnut stock partly checkered. Length: 28 cm. Bronze finish with patina . B.E. Prussia. Johann Nikolaus von Dreyse (1787-1867) was a German firearms designer and manufacturer. He is best known for the invention of the needle gun in 1836, which was finally admitted to active service by the Prussian army in 1841. He patented the revolver using this system around 1850.
