Joslyn" model 1862 saddle rifle, single shot, 52 caliber. Round barrel, rifled, with two-leaf frog. Lock marked "Joslyn Fire Arms Co Stonington Conn". Breech marked "B.F Joslyn's Patente October 8th 1861 - June 24th 1862". Iron fittings and saddle rings. Varnished walnut stock. Reissued in colors. Length : 98 cm . (cracked stock). N° 56** The two Joslyn rifle models (1862-1864) were produced in 16,500 pieces. It is one of the most used rifles during the Civil War. It was used in Union cavalry regiments such as the 4th and 8th Indiana Regiments, the 19th New York Regiment and the 9th Pennsylvania Regiment.
