Mary Cassatt (1844-1926) Bill Lying on his Mother's Lap. Circa 1889. Soft varnish and aquatint. 135 x 178. Breeskin 101. Printed in brown. A very nice trial proof, printed to the effect on cream laid paper, of an intermediate state between the 4th and 5th (of 5) according to Breeskin, with new work in the baby's feet and in the mother's hair, signed with initials in pencil. Small ink stains around the subject. All margins. Provenance : Ambroise Vollard (1866-1939) then H. M. Petiet (1894-1980 )
