Some rubbing. André Chéronnet-Champollion (1880-1915) was an artist and a great traveler, member of the Champollion family: his grandfather was Jean-François Champollion, Egyptologist. André Chéronnet-Champollion was sent as a young man to the United States where he studied at Concord (New Hampshire) and then at Harvard University (graduating in 1902). He traveled the world and kept notebooks (Peabody Museum). He became an American in 1908, but joined the French army and was killed at the front in 1915 at Bois-le-Prêtre. With Jacques André (1882-1958), Chéronnet-Champollion shared a taste for hunting. Jacques André was an industrialist and a great bibliophile. His very important library was sold in 1951 by Georges Blaizot. Jacques André, as a wise bibliophile, took care to gather the memories of his friend, as a testimony of their friendship and common passion around hunting. Provenance : Jacques André library, with his ex-libris " au pélican ".
