[CORSICA]. CUNEO D'ORNANO (Fabien). Précis on Corsica by Mr. Cuno d'Ornano (Fabien), owner in Ajaccio. In French, manuscript on paper. Corsica (?), June 1821. 44 pp, writing in dark brown ink, some annotations in graphite, table. Bound in red half-chagrin, spine with 5 nerves, gilt fleurons, gilt letters, boards covered with marbled paper, old blue covers kept. Dimensions : 332 x 215 mmThe Cuneo d'Ornano family included feudal lords from Corsica and Genoa. Fabien Cuneo d'Ornano (1781-1828) had married Laurine Sebastiani, member of another illustrious Corsican family. Fabien Cuneo d'Ornano was a lawyer at the court of Bastia, a member of the Corsican junta and a Bonapartist from the beginning. The person who copied this manuscript, "Limperani", is known as a protégé of the Sebastiani family. The work deals with the soil, the inhabitants, the Corsican administrations, the ambitions of Corsica, the judicial authorities, the gendarmerie and all the Corsican institutions. Provenance : A note in pencil indicates : " This manuscript comes from the library of my grandfather Sgio Ghjacumu Felice ". Then underneath, still in pencil by the same hand, "[...] had been copied by a cousin Limperani from Penta di Casinca, where my grandmother came from (her family having come from the south of the island). The same hand commented and annotated in pencil in the margins of the manuscript. We know Joseph-Antoine Limperani (Penta di Casinca, 1798-Bastia, 1884), consul general of France, deputy of Corsica (1831-1837) and adviser to the Court of Appeal of Bastia.
