Kukhuri, India, 19th centuryKukhuri (kukri) consisting of a forged steel blade, curved with flat back and a kandjar handle in silver damascus steel with scroll decoration. The blade is decorated with acid on a face of two elephants caparisoned in oval reserves surrounded by floral motifs while on the other face appear surrounded by foliage certain deities of the Hindu pantheon like Hanuman. Length: 59 cmThe marriage of a kandjar handle with a kukhuri blade is quite common when this type of weapon of Nepalese origin is made in India .
