A small Langyao brushwash in oxblood enameled porcelain, China, 18th century. The globular shape is enameled with a very deep flaming red glaze that stops naturally at the top of an unglazed heel. The bottom is enamelled. Height : 6,3 cmSmall firing crack on the inner rim . The term langyao is derived from the name of Lang Tingji, governor of the Jiangxi province, who supervised the imperial kilns of Jingdezhen under the Kangxi emperor from 1705 to 1712 and was at the origin of a production of objects with beautiful copper red glazes.
