Louis XI in walnut and ivory carved in the round. After Jean-Louis Nicolas Jaley (1802-1866), second half of the 19th century Collection label. H : 20 cm A small crack A commission was placed with Jean-Louis Nicolas Jaley in 1836 to make a marble sculpture of Louis XI for the Historical Galleries of Versailles. The marble proof was delivered in 1838 and sent to Versailles on September 16 of that year. It was then presented at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 and entered the Louvre in 1890 (inv LP1774). Another plaster print is kept in the Historical Galleries of the Château de Versailles. This model was made for the Universal Exhibition of 1889.
