Brass candlestick base, probably Jezirah, 13th centuryTruncated conical body with double projection in copper alloy with chiseled decoration of a wide band punctuated with roundels furnished with musicians on a background engraved with swastikas. On both sides, fine frieze of scrolls and band inscribed in kufic calligraphy punctuated with medallions with swastika running on the base. Diameter : 12 cm ; Height : 9,5 cmRest of silver inlays, missing shoulder and wick, traces of oxidation and slight cracks at the base, small repair inside . Our work can be compared to a candlestick with musicians in the collection of the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto under the inventory number AKM 886. Their festive iconography linked to princely pleasures makes them secular objects linked to the life of the court. A brass candlestick base, probably Jazira, 13th century
