Octave MONOD (1877-1934) doctor of the Fondation... - Lot 328 - Ader
Octave MONOD (1877-1934) doctor of the Fondation Curie. 12 L.A.S., Lyon or Paris 1919-1934, to Miss Risse, teacher and later headmistress of an elementary school in Lapalisse (Allier); 16 pages in various sizes, mostly on the letterhead of the Radium Institute of the University of Paris. Benevolent correspondence to a teacher who consulted him in 1919 for her eyes, then ten years later, asked for help in reaching a man who did not know her: he did not encourage her, but a few months later announced that her brother's case was closed... He declined an invitation for a family vacation in the Auvergne... He was surprised that she believed him to be misunderstood or unhappy: "If I sometimes look worried it is because I see around me [...] a lot of suffering and that the feeling that one cannot manage to keep the source of it quiet is in the long run terribly overwhelming"... Besides, "I do not conceive friendship in an exclusive way" (November 10, 1933)... An autograph visiting card from his wife, née Marie Chavannes, 2 L.A.S. from his daughter, Marie-Laure, 3 announcements, and the minute of a reply.
