SERICULTURE. Autograph manuscript by Fortuné BRÈS fils in Peipin (Basses-Alpes), [ca. 1900]; 24 pages in-8 (enclosed a sheet of paper on Fortuné Brès Fils' letterhead). Manuscript on the culture of silkworms by a merchant of "silkworm seed". In his Preface, Brès declares that he wants to "demonstrate how favorable a good breeding process has been to the educators of the Alps; and how a well preserved seed can influence a good success". Five chapters follow. The first one recalls the plagues which fell on sericulture, until the work of Pasteur... Chapter 2 is entitled: How the old race was preserved in the Alps. In the 4th chapter, the "Method of breeding system Brès fils de Peipin" is exposed: preparation of the workshop, incubation, space to give to the worms, etc.
