ALBUM AMICORUM. Album titled on the back: Denkmal der Freundschaft, Hamburg 1809-1814; oblong album in-8 of 72 ff. (plus qqs. blank ff.), contemporary binding in red basane, gilt frieze on the boards, spine decorated, gilt edges (binding a bit rubbed). Album of a young couple from the Hamburg bourgeoisie. Thoughts, poems, drawings and music It was started on the occasion of the marriage, on April 15, 1809, of Nanette Dellevie (Hamburg 1758-1850) with Sebastian Vallentin (Eisenstadt 1775 ?- 1851), banker in Hamburg and Hanover. The Vallentines settled in Paris in 1816. The banker and music lover Auguste Léo (1793-1859, a friend of Felix Mendelssohn, Chopin and Heine, among others), married Sophie Dellevie (1796-1864), Nanette's younger sister, in 1824. The album opens with a fold-out sheet (repaired tear) showing a panoramic view of Hamburg in 1809 (pencil drawing). Among the signatories are many representatives of the wealthy Jewish community: Moses Lazarus Dieseldorff and his wife Betty (their children will have Salomon Heine, Heinrich's father, as a tutor), Henriette and Jeannette Schlesinger, Nanette Schnabel, the woman of letters Regina Frohberg, Frederike Dellevie (Nanette's sister), the lawyer Carl August Buchholz, the cellist and composer Bernhard Romberg (lied), Marianne and Louise Oppenheim (poem and watercolor of flowers), Suzette and Henriette Benjamin, J. Lipmann, Félicité Blangini, Jules and Betty Arrong, M.J. Hertz, L.F. Völckers, E. Michaelis, Ernestine Robert née Victor, Henriette Courlaender geb. Wallach, the cellist Maximilien Bohrer (music), Leo Lehmann, J.M. Elissen, etc.
