Charles LAGRANGE (1804-1857) revolutionary politician. 6 L.A.S., Antwerp then Amsterdam 1852-1855, to M. Morel in Liège, Dordrecht and The Hague; 17 pages in-8, 4 addresses. Long political letters from his exile in Belgium then in the Netherlands. Antwerp December 22, 1852. He wanted to print his speech before the Chamber of Peers and the one on amnesty, to make known to Belgium: "the feelings which have always directed the honest part of the party in its long fight with the Royalty, & by remaining a profession of faith for the future a little in opposition to all these contradictory manifestos, which divide the opinion & make it a scarecrow for the fools"... Amsterdam April 12 and June 5, 1853. He would like to add to his speeches the one on universal suffrage, even if it means making some cuts so as not to hurt the Belgian susceptibility... February 6, 9 and 21, 1855, he calls Morel his "godson"; he speaks about an aborted meeting "in this country of religious liberties, chased away from our literary altar & all of free thought"; he leaves his hotel and tells about his new move in .... Etc.
