Large porcelain bottle vase with blue and white underglaze decoration of flowers, China, Kangxi period (1662-1722). The body is continuously decorated with peonies, chrysanthemums, plum blossoms, bamboo stems and butterflies. Two magpies in flight among branches of plum trees in bloom adorn the neck. The shoulder and the top of the neck are decorated with geometric friezes and stylized flowers. Height : 45 cmChips and cracks on the neck, enamel skip on the body . In China, magpies symbolize a message of joy and are often represented in pairs. The prunus is a homophone of eyebrows.
