Thangka representing an unidentified lama, Tibet, probably 18th centuryDemeterpainting on canvas in a silk frame, pasted on cardboard. The lama is wearing a fan-shaped headdress called drugpa headdress, of red color, characteristic of the Tibetan Buddhist school Karma-Kagyu. It was popularized by Gampopa Sonam Rinchen. The main character, in the traditional costume of a teaching lama, is seated on a throne with a table covered with offerings before him. He is surrounded by several deities as well as representations of various other lamas. 97 x 61 cmWear and accidents. Misses. The silks of the frame seem to be of Japanese origin.
