[LOUIS XIV]. Ordinance of Louis XIV king of Fran (sic) and Navarre. Of the month of May 1680. Portant Reglement sur le fait des Gabelles. [Followed by]: Ordinance of Louis XIV... Portant Reglement sur plusieurs Droits de ses fermes, & sur tous en general. [de] : Ordonnance de Louis XIV... Donnée à Versailles, au mois de Février 1687. Portant Reglement sur le fait des cinq grosses Fermes. [and of]: General Tariff of the rights and exits and entries of the kingdom & of the Provinces esquelles the Offices are not established, ordered to be raised on all the Goods & Commodities. Arrested in the Royal Council, Sept. 18, 1664. With the edict of the King of the same month & year. Paris: Libraires Associés pour l'Impression des Ordonnances des Fermes, 1734-1735. - 5 works in one volume in-24, red morocco, boards decorated with circular and four-lobed compartments, drawn with a double gilt fillet, the compartments being decorated with gilt dots or gilt circles, smooth spine decorated in the same spirit, inner gilt roulette, gilt edges (period binding, later decoration?). Interesting collection of laws concerning taxes and trade, promulgated by Louis XIV in the 1680s essentially. Copy in an astonishing binding on the boards and the spine of which has been drawn and painted a fanfare-type compartmentalized decoration. This decoration was made by an amateur at a time later than the binding, perhaps in the nineteenth or twentieth century. The quality of the latter and the fineness of the gilt roulette on the endpapers seem to us to be out of step with the decoration covering the boards and the spine, which seems to be of a less than academic realization. Small loss at the head cover, small tear at the other cover. Colors of the first plate slightly faded.
